The landscape for New Jersey nonprofits is always changing, and one of the best reports on where things are heading comes from the Center for Non-Profits, an umbrella group for 501(c)(3)s in the state. The Center’s 2017 Trends and Outlooks Survey is an enlightening look at how more than 300 charitable organizations are faring, and the opportunities and challenges they face. The report was produced with generous support from Sobel & Co., LLC.

Among the key findings is the continuing rise in demand for services that New Jersey nonprofits are dealing with. Three-quarters say that demand keeps growing.  Funding gaps are a reality for many groups, and a majority list financial uncertainty as an issue presenting a great challenge to their viability.  The list of pressing needs also includes better branding and communications; a stronger board; having money to pay for enough good staff, benefits and insurance; and funds to meet increased demand for program services.

Overall, the report says “the gap between escalating demand for nonprofit services and lagging resources remains a continuing and deeply concerning trend.”

Fundraising, communications and strategy issues are all challenges we help our clients meet and overcome.  We’d be pleased to meet with your nonprofit to discuss how we can help you reach your goals.
